Quick Rule: Lower ISO numbers (10-20) = Finishing with stable cuts. Higher ISO numbers (30-45) = Roughing with interrupted cuts or softer materials.

When you see a range like P15-P35, it means the insert is versatile and can handle:
  • ✓ P15 (Finishing) - For harder steels with light cuts
  • ✓ P20-P30 (General purpose) - Medium cuts on typical steels
  • ✓ P35 (Roughing) - Heavy cuts on softer steels
The wider the range, the more versatile the insert!

Understanding MGMN Insert Types

The type letter in MGMN inserts (G vs M) indicates the insert profile and use case:

G Groove Type
  • • Groove only
  • • Often sharper cutting edge
  • • Designed for lighter cuts
  • • Optimal for precision grooving
M Medium-Duty Type
  • • Medium-duty operations
  • • Can handle more feed rate
  • • Suitable for deeper cuts
  • • More robust for tougher conditions
Quick Tip: Choose G-type for precision work and lighter cuts. Choose M-type for more demanding operations with higher feeds or deeper grooves.
